Pre-Market Movers: Stocks to Watch

As the market prepares to open, several companies are making significant moves, driven by various factors such as acquisitions, partnerships, and changes in commodity prices. USA Rare Earth, for instance, saw its shares rise by over 21% after the Trump administration took a stake in the rare earths miner, with the company set to issue 16.1 million shares of common stock and 17.6 million in warrants.

Acquisitions and Partnerships

Allied Gold, a gold miner, climbed over 3% after agreeing to be acquired by Hong Kong-based Zijin Gold for C$5.5 billion in cash, with the deal expected to close by late April. Similarly, IonQ, a quantum computing company, gained 2.7% after agreeing to buy SkyWater Technology for around $1.8 billion, with the deal expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2026. CoreWeave, an AI cloud stock, rose nearly 10% after announcing that Nvidia invested another $2 billion in the company, expanding their partnership to accelerate the buildout of AI factories.

Commodity Prices and Sector Performance

Newmont, a major gold producer, saw its shares climb over 4% as gold prices continued their surge to record levels, with the precious metal climbing above $5,100 for the first time. Hecla Mining also benefited from the rise in gold and silver prices, with its shares rising over 5.5% after announcing that it produced 17 million ounces of silver in 2025, up year over year and at the top end of guidance. In contrast, the airline sector fell due to concerns over flight cancellations and delays caused by a heavy winter storm affecting much of the U.S.

Other Notable Movers

Enphase Energy, a solar energy stock, fell nearly 2% after announcing that it would cut its workforce by over 5%, impacting around 160 employees. AppLovin, a mobile advertising company, rose over 2% after an upgrade from Needham, which moved its rating to buy from hold with a $700 price target indicating 25% upside from Friday’s close.
